Product FAQ

Q1. How does a pneumatic 3 way valve work?

Three-way valves direct pressurized air to the cap-end side of the cylinder. Shifting the spool to the other extreme position blocks flow and pressure to the actuator. The actuator is connected to the exhaust passage, therefore spring force or gravity must return the rod to its original position.

Q2. What is a 5/3 way valve?

A 5/3-way valve has five ports and three states. They have two solenoids that each can control a valve state. If no solenoid is energized, the valve returns to the central state. Therefore, the valve is mono-stable. The central state can have different functions, such as closing off all ports.

Q3. What is a 5/3 valve used for?

5/3 solenoid valves are most often used as directional control valves for double-acting pneumatic actuators. The single-coil type of 5/2 valve usually has a spring or pilot air return so that when de-energised, the valve returns to it's starting function.

Q4. How to clean solenoid valve?

First, get a dry and soft piece of lint-free material. Use this to remove any excess moisture from housings and fittings. The point of keeping surfaces dry is to reduce corrosion and keep solenoid pneumatic valves moving smoothly for many years.

Q5. Solenoid valve troubleshoot

Check if the power supply is correct and the coil can dissipate heat by ventilation. Install a new coil and never power the coil when not mounted on the valve. Check for moisture within and replace if necessary. Replace any damaged or bent armatures as well, and check media compatibility with your valve.
